Encinitas

Encinitas

Overview

Probably best described as quirky, Encinitas lies 25 miles north of San Diego. Bounded on the south by the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and on the north by Batiquitos Lagoon State Marine Conservation Area and the Pacific Ocean on the west, Encinitas is an outdoor paradise. Hiking and biking trails beckon from north and south wetlands. The various beaches offer sunbathing, swimming and surfing. Swami’s Beach is internationally known as one of the top five surfing sites in the world and draws surfers from all over. Never surfed? No problem. The nationally known Leucadia Surf School will teach you how.

A City of Flowers and Surf

This town of 64,000 is also known for the many flower gardens that lend brilliant color to the area. The San Diego Botanical Gardens are located in Encinitas.

The city incorporated in 1986, merging five communities, each with a distinct flavor. From Old Encinitas to Cardiff-by-the-Sea, each neighborhood has different attractions, different shops and restaurants, different homes. That’s the beauty of Encinitas. Variety living in harmony with sunlit beaches. This is a beautiful place to call home.
